Established on 30th May 2012, the
Centre for Human Rights Enforcement & Prisoners Aid (CHREP-Aid) is a
non-profit and a charitable organization that works to promote the welfare of
vulnerable and marginalised groups especially prisoners and people in detention
in Ghana. The founder of CHREP-Aid Ghana, Lawyer Kwaku Antwi-Agyei, based his
strong conviction to advocate for the enforcement of human rights to eradicate
injustice from the Ghanaian Penal System and to advocate for a Justice System
where Prison Homes shall become Reformative Centres. CHREP-Aid is a
not-for-profit campaigning for the rights of people in prison and the
progressive reform of the Ghanaian Penal System. Established in 2012, CHREP-Aid
has a well established voice in public debate on the Ghanaian Justice System.
CHREP-Aid is based in Sunyani, Ghana.
Job Description
Working in four main
areas your tasks would include:
Policy
Research, preparing summaries of reports and policy documents, drafting bulletins, briefings, consultation responses and submissions to government inquiries

Campaigns
Research, preparing reports and other written materials, planning campaign actions, coordinating input to campaigns from people with experience of the criminal justice system

Event organisation
Events organisation including administration, note taking, report writing

Media
Drafting news releases and website content, maintaining our media contacts database

Required Skills or Experience
Person
specification
We are looking for
someone with:
- Commitment to CHREP-Aid’s aims
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system and
issues relating to people in the criminal justice system
- Knowledge of political systems and current
affairs
- Excellent writing skills (ability to write
for different audiences, e.g. for CHREP-Aid’s magazine and for politicians)
- Research skills (use of internet search
engines)
- Computer literacy (comfortable using word,
excel, email)
- Good organisational skills
- Attention to detail
Terms &
Conditions
We will reimburse travel expenses in Brong Ahafo (up to 15 cedis a day) and reimburse lunch expenses up to 5 cedis (receipts must be provided). We are looking for someone who can make an initial commitment of 2-3 days a week for three months.
