Established in 1963 by an Act
of Parliament (Act 204) and now superseded by Act 588 of 2000, GAEC has the
mandate which includes the promotion, development and utilisation of the
peaceful application of nuclear and biotechnological techniques and nuclear
education for economic and socal advancement of Ghana. In pursuance of these
objectives the Commission has established Institutes and Centres which carry out
appropriate research activities and human resource development. The Commission
has total staff strength of 700 comprising research scientist, technical,
administrative and supporting staff.

Position:
The position requires a person who is very dynamic, self-motivated, results-oriented and professionally competent. In addition, the candidate must possess excellent writing, communication and inter-personal skills. He/she must be a good team player.
As the Director of Administration, the successful candidate will be a key member of the Executive Management Team of the Commission and will be responsible for the overall co-ordination and supervision of the strategic management of the Human Resources (HR) and the Administrative functions of the Commission.

Reporting directly to the Director-General, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Developing and formulating Human Resource
(HR) Policies in areas such as staff appraisals, career development
planning, compensations and benefits etc
- Directly and co-ordinating Staff Development,
Employee Relations, Facility Management and General Office Management
- Providing Strategic directions, having
in-depth knowledge of the operation of the Commission in areas such as
corporate governance, commercialization and strategic management
- Liaising with the various Institute and other
supporting services for effective and efficient management of the
activities of the Commission
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and
statutory documents such as Public Procurement Act, Labour Law, Financial
Administration Act, etc
- Serving as Secretary to the GAEC Board
Terms of Appointment:
- The Appointment, which is full time, will be
for five (5) years for the position

The minimum job requirements are:

- A Master's degree in Public Administration,
Business Administration, Management or Psychology with adequate training
in Human Resource Management (HRM)
- Must have at least fifteen (15) years relevant
experience
- A minimum of ten (10) years experience
at Senior Management Level in a Research Institution or University
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in General
Administration and Human Resource Management
