disabilities through buidling their capacity, advocating for equal
opportunities in society and ensuring the full inclusive of their needs and
aspirations and active participation in national and local policies and
programmes.
Job Description
GFD seeks to engage a Monitoring and
Evaluation (M&E) Officer on contract for a 16-month period. The engagement
is within a Danida financed project, which is likely to be extended.
The successful applicant will be based in Accra Office of the Federation but with regular extensive travels (min. 40 days per year). The M&E Officer will work closely with the local manager of the project and report to the Executive Director of GFD.

- Be responsible for the M&E work in a
Joint Danida project: Strengthening the Disability Movement in Ghana
Phase 1, 2010-2013 according to an agreed work plan
- Be responsible for undertaking a quarterly
update/review of the joint project database based on visits to all project
districts with focus on triangulation of data
- Maintain close communication with and support
Local GFD communication with and support Local GFD
Committees/M&E committees in project districts
- Be responsible for training of the district
M&E committees on M&E tools and how to collect information
- Through monitoring visits, ensure that
districts and local GFD branches are focusing on collective demands
- Work closely with the Programme Manager of
GFD, the Project Manager of the Joint Project and other key project
officers in the involved organisations for effective coordination of
monitoring activities
- Support GFD member organizations and
local branches in putting together a monitoring strategy for all
project/programme indicators and building their database
- Develop and maintain an effective M&E
system for the joint project
- Develop and disseminate case stories from the
field and out of database
- Any other relevant duties assigned
Required Skills or Experience
Eligibility Requirements:
- Educationto first degree level or equivalent.
A subject area is not specified. Skills and experience will be more
important than specific formal qualification
- Experience/knowledge of qualitative and
quantitative data collection methods
- LFA proficiency
- Computer proficiency
- Gender
- Analytical skills
- Systematic personality who pays attention to
detail, accuracy and exact evidence
- Knowledge and experience with the
Decentralised political system of Ghana
- Training/facilitation skills to develop
Monitoring and Evaluation tools and strategy within GFD membership
especially direct project partners
- Three or more years experience as a
Monitoring and Evaluation person in the NGO Sector
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Ability to work independent to liaise and
co-ordinate activities between up to 8 different organisations
- Good team building and team working skills
- A background of working in the charity or NGO
sector would be ideal, but not essential and an understanding of/interest
in issues around disability as a development and human rights issue will
be an added advantage
