Job Description
Reports to: Director, Ministry Quality & Strategy
Location: Accra with frequent travel to the projects

Purpose of position:
To lead the development and implementation of an integrated WASH strategy for WV Ghana; provide technical support and advice relevant technical staff as well as ADP managers to ensure the attainment of agreed WASH objectives and alignment with Ghana WASH strategy; contribute to develop, update and report on WV Ghana National WASH strategy; develop and lead WASH projects and Programs design, monitoring and evaluation related to development works and emergency responses ; develop partnership and collaboration with Government ministries and institutions, Partner Agencies and WASH practitioners in order to contribute achieve the overall WV Ghana National Strategy and to ensure sustainable transformational development as per approved policies, systems and procedures and donor requirements.

Major Responsibilities:
- Initiate and support identification of
advocacy issues on WASH and develop and manage partnership with cluster
partners, government, bilateral and multilateral institutions; research
and academic institutions and other NGOs and represent WV at key meeting,
forums and events
- Develop, adapt and disseminate WASH strategy,
policies and guidelines that take into account relief and development
interventions gender, children's needs and disability; and ensuring the
realization of child well-being aspirations
- Ensure that WASH project are designed,
implemented, monitored and evaluated in accordance with WV strategy,
policies, procedures, systems and donors guidelines
- Support proposal development, fundraising
efforts, publication of impact and human interest stories to secure new
grants and support ADPs to review their Design Document to scale-up
WASH activities
- Provide technical guidance to ADPs and WASH
project managers on all aspects of the project implementation and
management (assessments, proposal development, development of work plans,
budget, monitoring and evaluation, procurements, etc)
- Promote cross-learning, training, best
practices, success stories and sharing of experience in ADPs and WASH
Project
Required Skills or Experience
Person Specification:
- Degree in hydrology, hydrogeology,
environmental sanitation, public health or other development areas.
Masters or higher degree is preferred
- Five (5) years working experience in the WASH
sector and good understanding of industry standards and trends
- Experience in project design, implementation,
monitoring, evaluation and report writing
- Experience in the water, sanitation and
hygiene sector is required
- Strong management training and capacity
building skills
- Good communication, planning and
organizational skills
- Ability to maintain effective working
relationships with all levels of staff and other stakeholders
